TEDxUSMNibongTebal
The word that we hear every day:
"Salam Sejahtera
Federal Territory did a caption Last February:
"Warga Ceria, Rakyat Sejahtera"
The Sejatera here means 'prosperity'
Song:
'Sejahtera Malaysia;
How do we make it real?
A Program, Kampus Sejatera, is created in USM.
The idea is basically to create a concept of "what is life all about"
- USM=University in the Garden
- USM wants to bring the concept of holistic living in an environment that we love
A balanced living = A sustainable living
What it means essentially?
To empower students to learn to live with nature in a balanced way.
To think wether every aspect is balanced.
- ( eating diet/ nature in their surrounding/ daily life activities)
Example:
There were few students who brought a proposal to ban polystyrene and Styrofoam. The reasons + The effects
Result:
USM managed to ban styrofoam and replace it with eco-material.
Accomplisment as far as SEJAHTERA known:-
1.Global university's network for innovation from Barcelona recognized and took this project as a student environmental activism because many wanted to achieve it but fail, except this one.
USM lead the way!
2. Japanese gave us an award for the creative development of healthy cities
Sejahtera Campus is all about balance, between many things.
Abbreviation: SPICES
S=Spirituality balanced
P=Physically balanced
I=Intellectually balanced
C=Culture balanced (social norms)
E=Ecology balanced (ethics and economy)
S=Society balanced
Korea has made it way before USM.
They have Sejahtera Forest, in which they practiced living in eco-dometry, which the users associated with nature and by themselves. No electronic appliances, thus, they will live using their hands. Cook and wash.
They have art Sejahtera, in which they are using blocks to create art about Sejahtera that represents the world.
Now, They have a Sejahtera scholarship, network, foundation, and leadership. They have been teaching the children at a very young age, that we have yet not done it. Whatever they have done there, to educate the society about the importance of Sejahtera.
Conclusion
As for us, we don't need to wait for others but we alone can be the one who starts it first. We should be empowered to work hand in hand to achieve a sustainable and balanced life that we want.
